The daughter of a Guatemalan immigrant, Amanda Davis has always reflected her mother’s vibrant Mayan heritage, deep appreciation for cultural diversity and unrelenting work ethic. She learned early that every person deserves respect — regardless of background, age, or race. As she moved around the country — from California to Ohio, New Mexico to Portland — and traveled internationally, Amanda developed a genuine curiosity and reverence for people whose lives looked different from hers.
Adulting started early for Amanda when she married her high school sweetheart, Chris, and the two became parents. Amanda’s initial experiences in a healthcare system that seemed ill-equipped to support new mothers compelled her to advocate fiercely for herself and to seek out others who would do the same. Ultimately, Amanda’s determination to improve the system led to a career that combined her respect for others with her newfound passion for advocacy.
For nearly a decade, Amanda has walked alongside families through the prenatal, birth, and postpartum journey as a full-spectrum doula — leading always with education and advocacy, and holding as her highest goal that every client feel empowered, heard, and in control of their birth experience. Being invited into such an intimate space is not something she takes lightly. Amanda has supported families from all walks of life — and finds in her work a profound personal healing, too. In so many ways, becoming a young mother is what shaped Amanda’s life: her career, her values, and the homelife she and Chris have built together.
Outside of her practice, Amanda fills her life with the things and people she loves most. She and Chris are raising three teenagers (17, 15, and 13) who are not only kind and curious humans, but — by Amanda’s own proud admission — some of their very best friends. The clan also includes two dogs, Ada and Wanda, and one large, impressively snuggly cat named Luna, all of whom are unambiguously considered family. They’ve called Painted Prairie home since 2021.
Amanda is an enthusiastic hobbyist with a long list of pursuits to prove it. Knitting, puzzles, paddleboarding, watercoloring — she’s tried it all and keeps coming back for more. She reads more than 100 books a year and is cultivating a green thumb to boot — in the backyard garden she is slowly and lovingly creating.
