How did a kid from little Hamar, Norway end up as a chef for the Denver Broncos (and a host of famous fighters and musicians along the way)? It’s a fascinating story that also led him to Painted Prairie. “A little bit away from city life and a short drive to air travel.” That’s what Fredrik Aarnes was seeking when he and his wife settled here. This world-renowned chef, public servant, cancer awareness and mental health advocate, and entrepreneur, lives by the mantra: “Spread love everywhere you go.”
And “go” he did and does. Fred, who first found his passion for culinary arts as a dishwasher, worked his way up in the kitchen honing skills and learning the intricacies of various cuisines. He took advantage of every opportunity and has spanned the globe doing a little bit of everything: private chef to musicians, performance chef to UFC fighters, United Nations special forces operations chef, hotel operator in Oslo, and sauce company entrepreneur—the list goes on and on. Now he takes up culinary team residence at the Denver Broncos’ Mile High Stadium (and will be part of the Broncos’ future $145 million facility). “I’m blessed to be part of a big family and team that have fun every day, but also work toward creating greatness and magic together,” said Fred. “I look forward to the transition to the new facility and the challenges and opportunities it will bring.”
Bullied at a young age, Fred grew stronger as a result and makes it a point to show love to all who come into his life. His love is reciprocated at home. “I love the great neighbors, the kind spirit and the karma points at Painted Prairie,” Fred beamed.
When he’s not at work, you’ll find Fred with his wife (who is the spice to his sugar), doting on his 2 grandchildren, making his famous heart-shaped Norwegian waffles, or in a sauna or cold plunge somewhere in the world recharging.
